Installation
How to load PathWise onto your machine and start it. You download an image, load it into Docker, and run it. Today PathWise runs on Linux and Apple Silicon Macs. A Windows version is on the way.
Two values on this page wait on the release build: the download's exact filename and the image tag inside it. Everything else is confirmed against the source.
What you download
Your purchase email holds a download link. It gives you the PathWise image as a file, not a public registry pull. You load that file into Docker yourself.
Load and start
- Check the download. Confirm the file matches the checksum in your email, so you know it arrived intact.
- Load the image. Run
docker load --inputwith the downloaded file. - Start the engine. Run
docker compose up -dwith the compose file below. On a Mac, use the bridge compose instead. See System requirements for the one host setting ping needs on Linux. - Open the interface. Visit the engine on port
7180. A healthy start printsPathWise engine listening on http://<host>:<port>in the container logs. The first visit shows a setup screen where you create the admin account, then setup closes. After that, teammates register themselves and an admin approves each account before it can sign in, within what your license seats allow.
The exact docker load filename and the image tag it loads come from the release build and get confirmed there.
Keep your data across restarts
PathWise keeps records like its audit log and your settings. Mount one persistent volume at /app/pathwise-data. PathWise stores users.db and config.json there. Set DATA_DIR=/app/pathwise-data. If you skip this, a container replacement can lose them.
Here is the buyer compose file. Replace <SHIPPED_IMAGE_TAG> with the tag your docker load printed. Use host networking on Linux for the real LAN vantage. On a Mac, use the bridge variant and publish 7180:7180 instead.
