Short answers to the questions buyers ask most about PathWise: what it does, what it costs, and what it will never do to your network.
What is PathWise?
PathWise is a network and access troubleshooting engine. Point it at a problem, a user can't reach a service, a connection times out, an access rule looks wrong, and it runs checks, gathers evidence, and hands you a diagnosis with a recommended fix.
Will it change or fix things on my network?
No. PathWise diagnoses and recommends, and never remediates. It gathers evidence at full reach, including live network probes like ping, traceroute, and DNS lookups, but it never runs, applies, or changes anything on a device or a network. What does it cost?
PathWise is an annual subscription. Solo covers one engineer at $399 a year. Team is licensed to one organization and covers four user accounts at $1,299 a year, with more seats sold in 3-packs. Both are sold through Stripe as merchant of record. The subscription covers new modules, new versions, and support. It is self-hosted, and the license verifies offline.
Can I modify it?
Yes, for internal use. The license lets you modify the engine to fit your environment. It does not let you resell it, redistribute it, modified or not, build a competing product from it, or remove the watermark. See Your license explained for the full terms.
Do I need to pay again for updates?
New modules and new versions, including a future major version like a v2, are part of your subscription. If your subscription lapses, your past reports stay readable and any running investigation finishes. After a 30-day grace, the engine stops taking new investigations until you renew. Does it need an internet connection or send my data anywhere?
The reasoning step runs on the model you pick. The default is a frontier model over your own API key, so investigation data goes to your chosen provider, not to Silo7. Point PathWise at a local model through Ollama instead, and the reasoning step stays on your own hardware. The built-in network probes need outbound access to the targets they test either way. What are the system requirements?
See System requirements for what to run PathWise on, including Docker and, if you choose the local-model path, the machine needed to run that model well. Today PathWise runs on Linux and Apple Silicon Macs. A Windows version is on the way.
