ABOUT

Built by one engineer who got tired of guessing.

PathWise is an independent product from Silo7. No venture money, no roadmap by committee, no hosted black box. One person builds it, and you run it yourself.

Who built it.

Mike Hancock builds PathWise. He has spent more than 30 years in systems infrastructure, the last 18 securing networks inside regulated banking. Perimeter security, firewall policy, and remote-access VPN at regional and super-regional US banks. He holds the CISSP and CCSP. For most of those years he watched access tickets bounce between teams while everyone guessed at the broken layer. The fix was almost always boring once someone found it. The finding was the hard part.

So PathWise does the finding. It walks the access path, reads your evidence, and names the layer that is failing, with the proof attached. It never changes anything on your systems. A person still decides and acts.

Silo7 is one person, so here is the honest version. It is an annual subscription, but it is self-hosted and the license verifies offline. You download PathWise, you run that copy on your own hardware, and no license server has to call home for it to work. If Silo7 goes quiet tomorrow, the version on your box keeps running. You also get the engineer who built it, not a ticket queue.

The honest deal.

Open standard

The Open Module Standard is free and public. Read it, and write your own modules for your own tools. No payment, no permission.

Subscription engine

The engine is the paid core, $399 a year. Self-hosted, and it verifies offline. It runs on your own machines with no license server to call, so it keeps working offline.

You run it

PathWise ships as a runnable skeleton anyone with the right permissions stands up, with your own model backend. One technical setup, then everyone your license covers uses it. It is not a hosted service.

The license, in plain words.

Here is the deal in plain language. The full terms ship with your purchase and at checkout. If the two ever disagree, the full terms win.

Scoped to what you buySolo covers one engineer on one machine. Team is licensed to one company or organization and covers four user accounts, with more sold in 3-packs.
Self-hosted, verifies offlineAn annual subscription, from $399 a year. Self-hosted, and it verifies offline. You run it on your own box.
New modules and major upgradesNew modules and future major versions, like a v2, come with an active subscription. Let it lapse and those stop arriving. Your past reports stay readable, and after a 30-day grace the engine stops taking new investigations.
Bring your own modelPathWise reasons with an AI model and key you provide. You pick the backend.
Run it anywhereRun it on your own infrastructure, on your own network. It needs outbound access to your AI provider and for the probes.
Modify it freelyYou get the source. Change the engine and build on it for your own internal use. You can also extend it by writing modules, which the open standard is built for.
No resaleDo not repackage, resell, or redistribute the engine, in whole or in part, modified or not. The free standard is yours to build on, the engine is not yours to sell.
As-isThe software is provided as-is, with no warranty. You judge every answer before you act on it.

Help.

PathWise is software you run yourself, so there is nothing for anyone to operate. If you get stuck on setup or on reading an answer, email what broke, what you ran, and what you saw, and Mike replies when he can. Help is best-effort email, with no warranty, no phone, no chat, and no screen-share. The engine never touches your systems, so questions are about setup, not outages.
